Short, Sweet, Warm and Relaxed

My university runs spring/summer courses and they have this great marketing campaign.  Just a few words.
It made it seem like taking a 13 weeks of  course in just 3 weeks was a good ideal.  However, as I start week number two, I not buy the ad anymore.  I am currently in an Econ course and will be writing my first midterm today.  As much as I want to get this degree done by the time that I am 40, I am not sure I want to take anymore summer courses.   I feel like I am not learning things that I might need in this class, everyday is a week worth of material; that is not relaxed.  I am just not feeling like I should take another course this way.  I feel like a crazy women trying  to fit my life into these 3 weeks.  I am feeling a little overwhelmed right now, and I am sure everything will work out.  But I have to get ready to leave for my midterm.

My Interview.

This weekend is Mother's Day, a weekend that most people enjoy celebrating. However, if you suffer from infertility, it is not that enjoyable.  I, myself do suffer from infertility, and  often I try to avoid this weekend by hiding out at home with sad movie ( that way I can blame the crying on Hallmark).   My husband and I have chosen to live child-free because of the cost of IVF treatment. Due to the damage that my  pituitary gland tumour caused, treatment for us would be much more then the usual 10-13K price tag.

A couple of weeks back I had a chance to share my infertility story with a local news station. The station  had hoped to air it this week, and well it aired tonight.  Couple looking to province for help funding fertility treatment | CTV Saskatoon News.  Can you tell that I have never done an interview before.  I was so nervous after  the interview was done,   I had a OMG  moment. Thankfully my Hun, support me and told me I did a good thing by sharing our story.

I am happy that I did the interview, we have never hide our infertility struggle, but now I am open to my whole city and a good part of the province.  I hope my story helps, infertility is a real medical condition that effect 1 in 6 Canadian couples.   I would give anything to have a child in my life to love and to  call my own, but that is not meant to be. This weekend I will not  be hiding, I will enjoy this weekend, well as much as you can when you have an econ exam on Wednesday.   If you suffer from infertility don't be a shame, it is a medical condition. This weekend I ask that you share your story with just one person.  You can do it, just think I just shared mine with 248,700 plus total strangers.  If we want people to understand what infertility is like and how it has effect our lives we need to speak out.

My name is Debra and I suffer from Infertility and it sucks!

Bad Blogger

I know have been a bad blogger. This term has been the worst and  I thought last term was bad since I started it with walking pneumonia.  This term started out fine and it was good, I love my classes, I was healthy. Then I got the phone call no one wants to get.  I had to drive to the 'peg, the day my history term paper was due.  My Granny was not doing well, and I needed to come home to say goodbye.  That trip was emotionally hard and it was a long long drive.  A few weeks ago, I decided to open my own cat sitting business, in the hopes that I would be able  quit my job at  the pet store.  My husband is working more and to make stuff really fun my husband  is going to start ground school in August. My Husband is hoping to become a pilot. Then in the last few weeks my oldest cat started to get sicker and on March 15, she had a seizure when I came home from a birthday party, and since then she  has been a few seizures a day.  So my husband and I have made the decision to put her to sleep tomorrow.  Tomorrow, I will be saying goodbye to the sweetest cat anyone could ever have.   We love her more than she will ever know. She will be so missed and will be loved forever and a day.

Finales

I wrote my first final of the  term, it was for my web class, so it was take home.  It was one question and I had to write a whole term paper in 24 hours.  I wrote 12 pages for my POLS 204 class , thank goodness that spelling and grammar are not  being marked.  Next final is another take home and I have three days and next Friday at 7:00 pm is my last final for Astronomy.  My brain is fried and now I have to go to work all day. Yippee for this mature student.

  • Handed in a 12 page term paper on why Canada should  keep a constitutional monarchy

  • After the midterm, to help de-stress the Hun took me on a date night, dinner ( Montanan's cookhouse), movie and air hockey.
  • and university is not filling the need that I hope it would.
  • I really hate my life right now, I am seriously thinking about dropping out of school and running away  to join the circus.
  • For once  I want life to be easy for me. I want my heart to stop hurting and life to be like a movie for once. I want good things to come easy and happen to us.
  • I need same  a friend in the boat as me right now. instead I am a freak without any friends that understand me.

Walking Pneumonia's First Day of Class

Yesterday was the start of term for me, I should be excited but I am not. See  I just didn't start class yesterday but my walking pneumonia started, too and it sucked!!!!  I have to say that  the prescription the walk-in doctor wrote me is helping a lot, I don't feel like I am going to die. I am  hoping  to be better by Wednesday.

That was a waste of $300.

Math camp was a  failure,  an Epic $300.00 failure. The only good thing about going to math camp is that  I get to use it as a tax write off.  Have  to look for the positives when you blow $300 of your husband's hard earned money (sorry Hun).

Now knowing that I suck at any more then basic math, I need to change my major and minor.  It is not really a change, it is more of a slight adjustment. From a  Public Administration degree with a minor in Economics to a Political Science  degree with a minor in Economic both (both program uses many of the same course with one exception the economics part doesn't require math). Public Administration and Political science degrees often can do get you the same jobs.   I still plan on taking all the same political science course as before, and all the courses I am taking this term and next will work for either degree.

Drowning in Numbers & Symbols

Today was my first day of Math Camp and I have to say that I feel like it should be my last day.   It was day 1 and I am already in  over my head. I'm drowning in numbers and symbols, that I am pretty sure I have never seen before. I actually cried tonight when I got home, I feel like am wasting my Hun's money on this. Hopefully tomorrow will better. Fingers cross that I make it through the next 9 days of Math.

Summer of Math

Can you guess what I've been doing this summer?
I've been re-learning all the math that I forgot the day after my Grade 12 math exam. Oh Joy!!!!  And to top off this summer of math, I will be spending my last two weeks of  summer vacation at the  Math Readiness Camp that the university puts on. Oh Joy!  This will be remember as the summer of Math.

Happy 12 Anniversary

Most university students are dating  or maybe starting to thinking that they have found Mr or Miss right and about maybe getting married, but not this university student.  Today, my Hun and I celebrated our 12th (a dozen years of marriage) wedding anniversary.

It is funny to think that I will spend our next 4 wedding anniversaries in university.  When I receive my degree I will have been married 16 years (wow).

So Hun,  Happy Anniversary to you.  I love you even when you drive me crazy, or are many miles away.  No matter how crazy, or bad life is I am glad we have made it to this point and we can say that we love each other with all our hearts. Here is to many more years Hun!

I am happy to say that I have never bought the Hun a tie for an anniversary gift or any other gift.

Fall and Winter Terms2013-2014

This past  Thursday I signed up for classes. I didn't get everything I wanted, when I wanted it, but I did get the courses I wanted in the end.  I still need to add one more course to my fall term and one more in my winter term.
As of right now I' in Ling 111, Astr 102 and Econ 111 in the fall term,  and in the winter term I will be in Econ 114, and Math 104.  Right now I have no term papers this year. :).  This next year is looking good.

Planning

I am starting to plan  for the the Fall and Winter terms.  I am kind of scared of taking a full course load. My Fall term is packed full of History, Econ, Math and some Science   I am scared.

I have to keep reminding myself  that I can do this and that I always wanted this.

I should have taken a summer course or two.  I miss university and it has only been a couple of weeks since the end of exams.
